American Sentinel University Partnership with Cerner Corporation Offers Advanced Degree Opportunities
Graduate students are faced with limited time due to a variety of responsibilities like studying, carrying out research, earning money to pay for school, and finding time for a social life. Adding additional tasks (like industry certifications) to an already overbearing work schedule is a daunting challenge at which most students balk, but it is one of the best ways for a newly graduated student to make themselves more competitive in their field.
An especially competitive industry is that of medical professionals, including demanding professions like nursing informatics, health systems management, and other health care related business fields. While the industry continues to grow, the best and the brightest are also attracted to these positions, where competition is often fierce for promotions, and even entry level positions.
Professional certifications, like those offered by Cerner Corporation, are one effective strategy for proving expertise in a field, and thereby gaining an edge on the competition. Many students now opt to complete their certification courses, even before graduation, due to the value certification adds during the job seeking process.
Cerner Corporation has established itself as a standard for health care professionals working to integrate today’s technology with medical advances to improve the efficiency of health care. Cerner Certification programs are highly regarded by both health care industry employees and prospective employers alike, but due to rigorous schedules of graduate students, including incredibly demanding time constraints, useful professional certification classes like those offered by Cerner are often times neglected.
Certification training is intense due to rigorous standards and required participation in true-to-life scenarios that mimic realistic emergency situations. Certification training has proven its effectiveness though, as evidenced by the fact that many lives have been saved by Cerner certified health care providers, and that Cerner’s solutions are licensed by more than 8,000 facilities around the world, including 2,100 hospitals; 3,300 physician practices covering more than 30,000 physicians; 500 ambulatory facilities, such as laboratories, ambulatory centers, cardiac facilities, radiology clinics and surgery centers; 600 home-health facilities; and 1,500 retail pharmacies.
American Sentinel University, an accredited online college offering college degree programs in health care, recently entered a partnership with Cerner Corporation to offer their students the convenience of transferring up to 18 credit hours of coursework for completed Cerner Millennium certification programs, or other appropriate Cerner training coursework. American Sentinel University’s students are truly offered the “Freedom to Learn”, as they are able to earn professional level certification standards while simultaneously working on their graduate degrees from the convenience of their own homes.
American Sentinel University currently offers the Cerner credit transfer program for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Business Intelligence (MSBI) program, the Master of Science in Health Systems Management (MSHSM) program, and the Master of Science in Nursing Informatics (MSNI) program. All of these degree programs are offered through American Sentinel University’s accredited distance-learing online network.
