The 30 participants in the study ran on a treadmill while listening to hand-picked rock or pop songs. Some of the running music was by Queen, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Madonna. The participants were asked to keep in strict time with the beat and the results were incredible. According to the study, when music is selected to scientific principles, music can enhance endurance by 15 percent and increase the pleasure the runners receive from the exercise. In addition, the exercisers were able to feel more positive even when they were working out at a very high intensity that edged on physical exhaustion.

Out of all the running tips out there, this might be the most fun. Also, a thought is that focusing on matching the beat distracts the runner from the physical exhaustion that might be occurring.
